About Us
Welcome to the National Coalition of Small Schools (NCSS).
This new organization is designed to help small schools thrive
through networking, advocacy and specialized services relevant
to small learning communities. The many small schools across
America value the mutual support that comes from a peer community
as they address critical issues. NCSS is a central resource
for relevant information; NCSS offers workshops, consulting
and conferences specifically tailored to the particular needs
of small schools; NCSS brings peers together who understand
the particular needs of small schools in building culture
and community; NCSS exists to help small schools with issues
of teaching and learning, effective systems and school culture.

About the Executive Director
Norman Maynard has been in education for 15 years, as teacher, principal, Head of School and now as part-time teacher, tutor, mentor and ED of this organization. He is intensely interested in the well-being of small schools, having seen first hand how important they are to not just their students, but to families, teachers, educational professionals and communities. As we enter into a very uncertain time of education - of how it will be delivered, what its aims are and who will have access to it - small schools are more important than ever as they deliver a quality experience to a wide range of individuals and their families.
You can read more from Norman on his blog on education.
